Something that just worked for me was taking a strip of KT tape and attaching the fabric side of that to an index card. I then peeled off about an inch of the protective paper to reveal the sticky side of the tape and slid the card into the disc drive making sure to get the card with the tape on top of the discs. KT tape being outrageously sticky only had to get a corner on the top disc and it pulled right out with the card. I then did the same with the other disc and now the drive works fine! Best of luck! May 24, 3: I just tried this and it worked beautifully!!!!
I tried everything else on this post, working my way down and the strips of plastic I was using had a sticky side, so I peeled the tape back about an inch as you suggested and slipped it in and pulled it out with a dvd attached! Thank you all so much Sep 6, A co worker of mine had this same problem.
I took a credit card and wrapped it with double sided tape. I placed the card in the slot and while hitting eject pulled the cd out as it stuck to the double sided tape on the card. Sep 12, 2: This worked so well.
And the drive works fine. Jan 5, 7: The simple easy solution is to get Two normal playing carda and wrap them tightly in regular packaging tape. Then gently wiggle the cards into the disc drive until you get about half of the card in. Then Pull it out and your disc will come out with it. If it does work on the first try, try multiple times.
If you have three discs stuck in there, you can just start with one normal playing card and as the discs come out just add more cards.

Pioneer does not even have it on their website. The disc image shows up on the desktop and I can still play the CD that is stuck in it. Seems to be a mechanical malfunction keeping it jammed. Anyway, I can't find out what model replaces my current optical drive. Can't even find a website that list slot drives for my computer model.
Victoria and Monica 10 years ago. So if the system won't eject any on it's own, do you have a pick tool, like a dentist might use, to reach in the slot and try to roll out one of them? The 45 degree angle worked like a charm. Victoria and Monica if you two visit this site again to see our comments well hey you two sound cute! I tried to do the duo thing of both mac and windows, and while doing windows it got stuck and i could not stop it from constantly trying to setup windows….
The placement of the Display Data cable on your machine is different. To remove pull the cable directly away from the back of the power supply. Toward the back of the frame, away from you. When putting back together, it is easier to disconnect this cable from the screen and plug it into the power supply first then the screen.
As for the sticky tape method, I cannot see the disk at all with the felt in the slot, and I really don't know which sided the disc is on. Front or back side? I can slide a card in the slot and feel a mechanism move near the top of the slot when trying to eject. But I still don't know which side the disc is on. I was wondering if the tape method would work if it is lodged in the center for some reason.
Or, if a mechanical part is stuck in the way. I suppose I have nothing to lose at this point. I might give this a try. Does this mean the drive should be replaced anyway since it became jammed in the first place? Good Luck. BTW if this works for you please accept the answer. The computer wouldn't even attempt to eject the DVD, which stopped playing. I got a message that it was skipping over a damaged portion, but it just kept whirring. There was a place to click on "Eject disk" and I clicked on it. The computer finally ejected it.
Show 3 more comments. It works best if you can see the disc being prepared for ejection It sort of lifts off a base and lines up with the loading slot but failing and being put back in a park position. Insert two plastic cards library, credit cards, or similar into the slot and try to hold them as far apart as possible. The idea is to try and get one above the disc being ejected and one below it and, after pressing the eject button, you should be able to grip the disc with the two cards and slowly pull it out.
Can't use this method. Cannot get anything including a thin playing card behind what I think is the disc. Can't see it at all.
Can't angle the card enough to go towards the back. The Sticky tape did the trick for me! Thanks, I probably would have never thought of that! I know it saved me hundreds of dollars from going to the Apple Store since my iMac is 6 years old. If you look on the front panel of the drive then you will see a pinhole sized hole. Insert a straightened paper clip or similar into the hole and the door will slide open.
If it still fails to work after that then its time for a new drive. At least you can get whatever disk is in there out in the meantime. Thanks everyone for your help. My macbook pro had the same problem. The DVD would make the noise to eject but wouldn't come out and it would automatically start the film where it stopped before. I tried the double sticky tape and the two card trick but I couldn't maneage to get it inside.
But pointing the vacuum cleaner to the exit while ejecting and it worked just fine. Taylor Swizzle. Pam pam When I inserted the CD, I could tell right away it just didn't feel "right". It did not show up on my desktop. I tried eject, "drutil eject" in Terminal, restart, paperclip and tried to push another CD in just a bit to see if it could work.
Albert robearalbert. January The sticky tape method sounds like the winner for next time. I have been just using a star bit and a suction cup to disassemble the whole thing and grab it. But What the! It obviously works and plays DVDs fine. It actually ejects on its own every other time or so. So , bonus points to anyone who can tell me why that is. Everyone seems to be having the same issue.
