Anyone have any information on whether your monthly data usage is impacted by using the streaming of HDTV content to PC through the Contour web interface feature? Thanks, Ender.
Cox managed content accessed through these Cox-provided services requiring a separate subscription does not count toward your Data Plan. Thanks for your response. The last statement in the Note seems to say pretty clearly that the activity of "using the Contour Guide" is going to count toward the monthly totals of your Data Plan.
Looks like I'll keep an eye on how much this feature gets used in my house. Net Nanny cox. Does this mean Cox gives priority to traffic between it and specific content providers? How does this factor into net neutrality?
However, watching the lower left hand status bar of my browser I see it drawing data from edge. You'll have to draw your own conclusions about whether this is a net neutrality topic. Did not work that way. I have to be at home on my Cox network. I think I have this It shouldn't count, at least from a technical perspective. I suspect it uses all the same bits and bolts as the app versions, so am fairly confident it doesn't count.
DesertHeat join Yeah the TV Connect app and PC support were retired due to updates and being replaced with Contour 2 for apps as well as through a browser. Im sure they can easily fix that as you cant connect if not on your home network.
Its just a matter of them filtering the data out how it was with the Connect TV program. Leave feedback, contact them on social media Facebook, Twitter or call them do all 3 and let them know that using their own program Contour 2 on a computer through the browser should not count towards your usage data as it didnt count before with Connect TV. As mentioned above its new technology from them from Comcast Xfinity1. I may be wrong but I thought that they Comcast customers could actually log in with their username and access their Xfinity1 Contour 2 to view Live and OnDemand content from anywhere in the world.
Available as a downloadable app for Windows and OS X, it offers access to 90 cable TV channels, but still has the same restriction as the mobile version in that it only works when the user is at home. Also as usual, users will need the right mix of cable TV and internet packages for access, check for details after the break.
Cox customers can now access live TV programming from their desktop or laptop computers in their homes. Offering live streaming access on Cox TV Connect for PC and Mac users is the next step in providing choice and flexibility for the multi-viewing home. Access to live programming through Cox TV Connect marks the continued expansion of Cox's online offering.
